Some facts about bees
Bees have been producing honey for 20 million years.
A bee flies at approximately 15mph and visits 50-100 flowers in one collection trip.
Two million flowers need to be visited in order to produce a pound of honey.
A worker bee makes 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime.
A queen bee can lay 1,500 eggs per day. She can live for five years, whereas the worker bees only live for one summer.
Male bees are called 'drones'.
There can be up to 50,000 bees in a hive in the summer.
A honey bee has six legs and five eyes and they communicate with each other by 'dancing'.
